2013 - YEAR OF THE SWAN!

18/05 - SWANS BACK TO WINNING WAYS! After the disappointment of all sides suffering defeat last weekend, the Wadebridge sides showed their 'bouncebackability' with a trio of hard fought wins today. The story of the day was a pair of run-shy left-handed skippers simultaneously turning in useful top scores for their sides! 1st XI skip Charlie Ellis (49) jibbed a maiden half-century but along with Alek Gill (16) and Tim Marlin (44*) ensured that Perranarworthal's 133 was never enough after a team effort from the bowlers who all got wickets. The 2nd's put up a great show in chasing down 184 to beat Werrington 3s, Nick Hurst (79*) anchoring the innings superbly with support from Steve Meneer (50). And, in a 3rd XI side featuring no fewer than 6 U15s, captain Andrew Tinker's magic new bat chipped in with 39* to drag his side to 111-8 against St Newlyn East II, which they defended thanks to 6 wickets shared between young left-armers Jack Old and Elliot Dunnett. Well done to all the players on your efforts, let's hope for more of the same next weekend in the crucial Bank Holiday double-header!
